Simone Austin’s story of how she was discovered by Freedom Models makes you fall in love with the idea of the fashion industry that for too long felt like an illusion.
You know those stories of people being discovered while simply living life and it turning into the origin story that began the modeling career of a lifetime.
“I was playing soccer on the beach during spring break and Yamil and another scout came up to me and asked if I ever modeled before and I said no. They then asked if I would be interest and I said yes. They gave me a business card and later dm’ed me asking if I could come into the Freedom office. From there I went and did like basic photos on the phone so they could show their team and I got signed a week later...“
These are the same stories that inspire me as a photographer to sharpen my skills, perspective, and reference points so I’m prepared to contribute to the journey of the models and talent I’m able to work with because you never know when you’ll come across the opportunity to help someone change their world or go on a dope adventure.
I’m happy I could be one of the first photographers to do that in Simone’s case.
