I'm Kennyatta. I photograph, strategize, and publish stories through a cultural context.
This is my publishing platform about the power of cultural storytelling with a studio and framework for people building with people in mind. Suppose you believe your brand, work, idea, or your audience deserves more than algorithmic relevance, or you're building something that should compound over time rather than evaporate with ever-shrinking trend cycles. In that case, you're in the right place.
Curiosity: How have I improved from one swimweek to another? Category: Photography
Trying to manage test shoots with out-of-town models during Miami Swim Week is a challenge.
My first Swim Week, I went as hard as I could. Photographed six different fashion shows. Photographed five different out-of-town models for test shoots. And enjoyed none of it. I spread myself too thin and moved too fast to really connect with the work I was doing.
The following year, I moved differently. Photograph less, connect with what I was photographing more. This test shoot with Fernanda Flores was one of the two I did that week.
I could easily see in the work what a difference it made to slow down and be present in the photoshoot vs. having a schedule so packed that I gave no breathing room to give myself to what I was creating.
I’m happy with how these came out and the lesson this experience taught me.
Do you have a story waiting to be captured, or are you looking to test shoot a concept for your book?
